Winter Escape 2009

You may think I’m crazy and you may be right.  However, putting that aside for just a moment, I have to tell you that I LOVE TO CAMP IN THE WINTER.  Whew!  It felt good to yell that out.  Nuts or not, I’ve been doing an annual wilderness winter backpacking trip for about a decade now.  Each year I rally a few others with strong hearts and weak minds and we head off into the great outdoors.  This years trip took us to the Adirondack mountain range in upstate New York.  It was a joy to be surrounded by breathtaking beauty and the solitude that only a snow ladened trail can provide.

I could go on and on but I’ll shut-up now and let you see for yourselves what you’re missing.  Enjoy!

Winter Getaway Part 2

Well I’m alive and well and had a great time on this year’s winter trip.  Every time I go out I learn a little more and grow in  appreciation of the solitude.  The standout highlight of this adventure was waking up eye to eye with a moose about 2.5 meters away.  It was amazing and incredible peaceful to absorb those moments.  A truly unforgettable time.

As promised here are a few shots from our time in Algonquin.  Many thanks to my buddy Lewis for making this year work amidst it’s challenges.
