Decision ~ Paulo Mugarura

You know those times when you go to start a simple, small task and it snowballs into something a little larger that you never really imagined?  That’s where I find myself now with my most recent posts.  It all started innocently enough with a post of some work I’d done awhile back.  Then before I knew it I was elbow deep in my digital archives finding all manner of images that I wanted to share.  So, let’s get to it!

Paulo, as he’s known to most of his friends, is one of those people that make you feel at ease moments after meeting them.  His unassuming manner draws you in as his intense yet gracefully passion for people goes beyond engaging your mind and begins to enlist your heart.  He’s a great guy and I wish you all could meet him.  Hmm…maybe you can (more on that later).

Paulo came to me with his music project a new CD that he was putting out.  He was looking for some creative imagery that could be used for the CD’s artwork.  This type of project is always fun and I love sinking my teeth into these sessions with other creatives.  We got to work here in the studio and in short order Paulo’s personality, passion and exuberance were coming through in each capture.  He shared bit’s of his story that gave me a richer understanding of him and his work.  He sang, he danced, he conquered the session.  I think you’ll agree it was a great success.

Remember I mentioned meeting Paulo?  Well you can.  He’s a worship leader at Woodvale Church here in Ottawa.  He’s a fantastic, energetic musician you’re sure to enjoy.  You can catch him most Sunday mornings leading the band and congregation at Woodvale.  You can also find Paulo at his website www.paulomugarura.com, on Twitter, On Facebook and in a Zumba class near you.  Paulo’s new CD “Decision” is available on iTunes

Notorious ~ Band Studio Session

Some time ago I did a studio session with a great bunch of guys from the band Notorious.  This guys went for the whole enchilada, with full make-up and hair.  We had a ton of laughs and I think we created some standout work.    As I was digging around today I thought it was time I shared some shots from that session.  Please drop me a note in comments at the bottom and let me know which one is your favourite.

Open Sky

They came, they saw and they made me laugh!  Open Sky is a local Ottawa band with a great sound that you’ve got to hear for yourself.  I had the joyous pleasure of working with these guys awhile back and we had a blast.  Our session was filled with loads of laughs and lots of fun creative moments.     Check out the images below!

You can find out more about Open Sky at www.openskyband.com If you get a chance to see them live, don’t pass it up.  They got a new CD coming out soon that you won’t want to miss.

Canada Day 2008 – Kanata, Ontario

Canada Day Rocks!  We always manage to have a great time on Canada day.  This year we hit the Kanata celebrations at Walter Baker Park.  April Wine rocked the grounds and moved the crowd followed by a fireworks display.

Here are a few shots of the evening.  Enjoy!

Rocking Perth

second-vice228-blk.jpg

Yesterday afternoon/evening I had the privilege of going to hear and photograph a group of young men who tore up the stage at O’Reilly’s in Perth. “Second Vice” presented a nice mix of original and cover tunes in a high-energy entertaining set for the standing room only crowd at the pub.

Pictured here is the band’s lead singer.  This young musician is going places.
