What a day! Our Fall Rhapsody Photowalk was a success! The day was gorgeous. We just couldn’t have had more perfect weather. I was fortunate to have a wonderful group participating who rolled with the punches while we waited for some stragglers. Ren, where are you?
Sadly, we actually had a few people who never did find us. We’ll be looking at how we can avoid that in the future. My apologies to all those who were MIA.
Once we got underway the grounds at Mackenzie King Estate were beautiful albeit a little crowded. The light hitting the autumn colours was outstanding. There were so many striking elements to capture and so much variety. Below are a few of the moments I was able to capture along with a group shot compliments of Ron Bets. We’re excited to tell you that we think it’s time for a Dale Hogan Photography Photowalk and you’re invited. Today we’re announcing our Fall Rhapsody Photowalk in Gatineau Park. Join us for a wonderful afternoon and evening adventure exploring autumn’s colourful displays.
What: A Fall Rhapsody Photowalk hosted by Dale Hogan Photography (DHP). What’s a photowalk?
Where: Gatineau Park
When: Saturday, October 10th, 2009 at 2:00 pm That’s next weekend!
Who: You. This is open to photo enthusiasts of all levels. It’s a fun social outing with a photographic focus. Whether you have a point and shoot camera or the latest DSLR you’re welcome to come along. This is not one of those events where you need to feel self conscious. It’s fun, it’s active and it a great way to meet others in your area that love photography.
We’ve got 15 first come first served spaces, so let us know right away if you want to take part. To sign up simply let us know you’re coming in the comments section of this blog post. If you happen to be reading this on Facebook please go to our blog to register. Make sure to add your email address so we can stay in touch about future photowalks, events and the specific details about this photowalk. We’ll be emailing you some specific direction to our meet up location soon.
As I recall there were no complaints form the peanut gallery when they had to spend a good chunk of the afternoon with me in the park while their friends were all at school. We had a blast at our outdoor fall session. The leaves were great once we got to a park that still had them. I had scouted this great location the day before our shoot. It was filled with leaves from these beautiful old maples. The ground was awash with colour and there were other elements that added so much to the scene. The morning of the shoot I showed up to find a City of Ottawa crew just finishing up leaf cleanup. D’oh! One of the workers was both insightful and kind enough to inform me of a nearby park that wasn’t scheduled for cleanup for a few days. Off we went! Once there, we raked, we threw the football and we laughed. Along the way we captured some really fun, natural, fun images.

Hey I said I’d do better and here I am back again already. Thing are looking up! :~) To say this one is overdue is more than an understatement.
Let me tell you about an awesome family that I had the privilege of spending a sunny afternoon with. The Wilsons rocked the park and we got some great family portraits, laughed, played, had a leaf fight. There were a few times I could hardly hold my camera as laughter got the best of me, thanks Rob! You know things are gonna turn out great when joy is at the heart of what you’re doing.

This is just a quick post. Here’s a few shots from an urban shoot that I did earlier this fall with five lovely urban ladies. I had a blast working with this group. I think they all look stunning, but I may be just a little biassed. Please have a look and tell me what you think in the comments.
